Had brunch with my sister and the wonderful future Dr. Grace Shih ;) at University Restaurant (we were going to go to
The Grey Dog's Cofee, but it was PACKED!). So we caught up over sandwiches, a muffin and an apple pie a la mode before she'll have to go back to the grind starting Monday. Afterwards, Beau and I wandered through the farmer's market at Union Square, perusing all the apples, homemade cookies and scones, apple cider, cheeses, tulips bouquets, breads, fish, maple syrup, jams, ... mmmm. We also saw a protest for shutting down
Indian Point, a nuclear power plant in NY.

Eventually we made it to the Barnes and Noble and found a place for her to study. By the way I just read Tim Keller's
The Prodigal God and highly recommend it. Very tempting to read all in one sitting but worth it to take the time to process and think through what Keller proposes for me as someone who grew up going to church and who calls herself a "Christian". Speaking of books and B&N and farmer's markets, here are some things I just HAD to buy (not pictured is a slice of Amish pumpkin bread .. which I ate immediately after purchase. So yummy.)
After a couple hours we head to the Union Sq subway entrance and see a crowd of people gathering in one spot with ...
pillows???
